Sooooooooo….I didn’t wear a costume for Halloween this year, but I did have a new dress to wear that I thought looked appropriate for the festivities. My kids called me “wolf lady” all day, and said that I was “spooky and scary”. Good enough for me 🙂Another skater dress, this time in a very cool (?) knit printed with wolves. I had this fabric sitting in my cart on Etsy for weeks trying to talk myself out of buying it, but in the end the call of the wolf was too strong to resist. I think it’s fun, and the fabric is the perfect weight and stretch for this dress.
I won’t go to deep into the construction, since it is exactly the same as my previous version of this dress….it’s my own pattern, based loosely on tracing a shirt in my closet with sleeves borrowed from the Miz Mozelle pattern. The skirt portion is just a gathered rectangle, with the only slightly tricky aspect being that it is gathered with clear elastic to keep the waist seam stretchy. It’s a winner of a pattern for me, and I hope to make a few more- maybe a long sleeved version.I took these pictures quickly as we were driving in between Halloween events- we went to an interactive screening of “It’s the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown”, which was super fun. The kids got to yell at the screen and dance around- it was kind of a kids’ version of Rocky Horror. Followed by Halloween donuts and a fun dinner out, good times were had by all 🙂 . Hope you had a fun and safe Halloween!
