Colette Laurel, Peter Pan Style!

The Colette Laurel pattern has been a great learning experience for me; I have tried a lot of new techniques, which is great!  After making two blouse versions I was ready to move on to a dress:DSC_0180

I had to make a few minor adjustments to the tops I made, and so I transferred those over to the dress version.  The only additional thing I did here was to take out most of the hip curve, because I have no hips!! And I drafted a Peter Pan collar, because I think they are super cute 🙂

It was my first time drafting a collar, but after searching around on the interwebs I found several very helpful tutorials and ended up following this one.  I made the collar with a yellow/gold eyelet, and lined it with a Kona cotton that matched perfectly!  DSC_0160

The dress fabric is some Nani Iro double gauze that I have been hoarding for a while.  I looooooove Nani Iro fabric.  I want to go to Japan with a couple of empty suitcases and fill them with fabric!!  My 5 year old told me she wants a dress JUST LIKE THIS.  And I think I have enough fabric left to make that happen- it is Kids Clothes Week after all, and I have been totally slacking!DSC_0149

I have another Laurel dress to show you but that will have to wait until tomorrow….I am off to sew clothes for my littles!!
