A Couple Tanks/Adventures in Dyeing

Hello there!  Just popping in quick to talk a little about these tanks I whipped up this summer….dsc_0070I made them both from some super luscious hemp/silk blend fabric I received from Organic Cotton Plus– every now and then they send me some fabric for review and it’s always so good.  The quality of this one is really nice- a bit crisp on arrival but after a wash and dry it is super soft.  This first one is a cropped Grainline Studio Willow tank– Jen has a tutorial on her site for your cropping pleasure.
dsc_0020 I liked it in it’s natural color, but I have a friend here in Portland who has been doing some indigo dye workshops and I couldn’t resist giving it a dip in the dye pot!  I wanted a sort of imperfect ombre effect, and I love how it turned out.dsc_0016 This next one is a highly modified Papercut Patterns Sway dress, narrowed down a lot and shortened, obviously.  I wrapped this one around a pole, tied string around it and then scrunched it up before putting it in the dye pot.  I think it gives a very cool effect!dsc_0010
